The Gold Point Scheme was introduced by the EBU on July 1st 1995. The WBU agreed to adopt the scheme, beginning with the Welsh Foursomes, September 1995.
Gold Points are a way of measuring the current performance of leading players in the country, and is independent of the existing Master Point Scheme, which measures lifetime achievement.
Gold points are awarded to players who earn 5 or more green (or national) points in a single event. (5 greens=1 gold, 7.5 greens=1.5 golds). Each succeeding year, a gold is reduced by one fifth of its original value, to disappear totally after five years.
Gold points are calculated at year-end, 30th April.
